The cons of the conversation held unyielding facts supporting the old school wisdom.
The question is, is old school wisdom satisfactory enough?
Mentioned in part one, the bucking Broncos are 49-4 in the past four seasons under head coach Chris Petersen. Somewhere along the way, a 2-0 mark in BCS play still didn’t fly right or amend any opinion traditional pessimists harvested toward Bronco Nation.
Time to grow up.
Look away or blindfold yourself, nothing stays the same forever. Tradition adapts equivalent to everything else in the world, although its growth isn’t quite as prevalent as we’d like it to be. It’s sort of ironic how a vintage generation preaching the concept of patience, vengefully disagrees with a once unheard of, who find a seat at the table.
Steadily one the most superlative offenses in the nation every year, the Boise State offensive line bullies defenses away from the line of scrimmage with ease.
Case in point, the 2009-2010 Bronco offensive line permitted just five sacks all season giving ample time for quarterback Kellen Moore to surgically dissect the opposing defenses averaging 42-points-per-game, which was tops in the nation.
Boise’s defensive line knows no intimidation whatsoever.
They fly around the field like an eagle insistently diving after their prey. Their speed allows no time for opposing offenses to do a double take before being violently blindsided. Maybe the fastest defensive line in all of college football, they have adopted the vicious headhunter mentality in addition to their neck-breaking swiftness.
Roll your eyes about the speed description of the Broncos, but ask Bob Stoops and/or Gary Patterson in relation to the discipline Boise’s defense demonstrates. Line ‘em up and smash ‘em in the mouth as hard as you can, then move on to next week to take care of business.
As if the defensive line’s respect hasn’t exploded onto the national scene, the Broncos secondary has decided to join the party with their antagonistic physical play as well.
Converting unequivocally the most dazzling gimmick plays at an unbelievable success rate, Boise has raked in the extra viewers who could otherwise give a rip about college football to begin with because of their theatrics merging with sheer creativity and near flawless execution.
One popular cliché, “the sun shines on a dog’s hind quarter every now and then,” has been a crutch for the naysayers constantly weeping on four years of Broncos’ success.
Since the extinction of the dinosaurs, the alligators and crocodiles miraculously surviving the cataclysmic wipeout have never had to change their aggressive prehistoric attacking nature.
WAC lightweights up through college football’s heavyweight knockout kings face Boise State’s unrelenting hunger to reach the summit of the food chain. They bring the same bone rattling intensity to every game with the exact same motive as the game before. Win and offer no apologies, move on and trounce the next poor sap.
Welcome the future. Tradition appears to be adapting.
