Five Players that Helped Their Stock at the NFL Combine
Every year the best graduating players and players leaving college early meet at the NFL Combine so that scouts can see if they are worthy of being drafted or not. Every year at the NFL Combine some stock rise and some stocks fall. These are
5 of the players that saw their stock increase at the NFL Combine this year.
Connor Barwin, Cincinnati
Connor Barwin has fought his way into possibly a first round draft pick. Barwin needed a great senior season just to get on everybody's radar but now it was up to him to perform at the NFL Combine. It did so and might be a first round pick at the NFL Draft.
Ian Johnson, Boise State
Ian Johnson won't be one of the top picks in the NFL Draft or even one of the top running backs but the scouts at the NFL Combine say that Johnson had a good all around performance that landed him in the top 5 in every category except for one. Johnson might have improved his stock by an entire round.
Jason Smith, Baylor
Some players will see their stock fall at the NFL Combine and that's an opportunity for somebody else to move up the draft board. With Andre Smith's stock dropping Jason Smith becomes the best offensive lineman in the NFL Draft. Jason Smith also did well in his strength exercises, which was the biggest concern that scouts had with Jason.
Johnny Knox, Abilene Christian
Obviously if you're from Abilene Christian and you make an article about the NFL Combine then it's usually on the rising stock side since he isn't on most people's radar enough to have a falling stock. Johnny Knox posted a 4.3 speed in the 40 and might be a second round draft pick in the NFL Draft.
Pat White, West Virginia
Being a running quarterback is like being a child actor. Running quarterbacks get typecast early on and it's hard to break out of that on the next level. But this year at the NFL Combine Pat White showed to the scouts that he could throw the ball in the NFL.
