So where is the toughest place for a visiting football team to play?

According to ESPN and the video game College Football ’09, it’s Tiger Stadium, the home of the Louisiana State Tigers.

Of the 25 toughest places on the list, only one was a mid-major team. Any guesses which team that is?

It’s Boise State!

The Broncos cracked the list at No. 24, a well-deserved honor for sure. Let me just say that I have only seen the Broncos lose one home game — a nailbiter against Boston College in the MPC Computers Bowl — in my time covering the team.

As for some of the other teams on the list, they include national powerhouses such as Florida State, Alabama and Auburn.

There are also a few place Boise State has played at in the recent past including Wisconsin (No. 8), Georgia (No. 16), Arkansas (No. 22) and South Carolina (No. 25) — all places they also happened to lose.

Don’t look now Bronco fans, but that trip to Oregon — the No. 7 toughest place to play — is right around the corner.

Boise State has never topped a BCS team in its home stadium, and if they do it against Oregon, well that’ll be a monumental victory in the eyes of ESPN and video gamers alike.

Note: I think EA should have updated the press box, if you look, it’s the 2006 model.

Also, for any of you who missed Sunday’s column, I wrote about the new voice of the Broncos.
