2008 Schedule Planner - Week 4

For the fourth week of the season, you're going to get as good a group of games as you could hope for so early in the season. The SEC, as usual, steals the show with three of its top teams participating in marquee matchups.

Games of the Week

Thursday, Sept. 18 - West Virginia at Colorado

Mountaineers hit the road and meet the ever improving Buffaloes in Boulder for all the country to see. Colorado was serviceable against the run last season, allowing only 128 yards on the ground. And if they hold the Mountaineers to that many yards then chances are the Buffaloes will be walking away with a big September upset for the second straight season. These two have never played each other.

Saturday, Sept. 20 - LSU at Auburn

These two figure to fight it out for the SEC West title meaning this game is about as important as it gets for the Tigers and Tigers. The LSU offense could still be a work in progress only four weeks into the season without Ryan Perrilloux under center, but the same could easily be said for Auburn. Tony Franklin's spread will surely hit some speed bumps along the way so we could see the defenses take over in this one. Not like we haven't see it before in this series considering since 2004 the winning team hasn't won by more than seven points.

Saturday, Sept. 20 - Wake Forest at Florida State

Wake has had the Seminoles number the past two seasons. Riley Skinner led a second half comeback to beat FSU as the Demon Deacons won their second straight over the Seminoles last October, marking the first time in school history they had pulled off the feat. Can they do the unprecedented yet again? If the Seminoles don't take care of the football chances are Wake will capitalize. The Deacons have forced FSU into eight turnovers over the past two seasons. Meanwhile, Wake's only turned it over three times in those two meetings.

Saturday, Sept. 20 - Boise State at Oregon

Yet another game where the Broncos can prove themselves to the nation and most certainly cement themselves as a Top 25 team before heading into their WAC schedule. Broncos are 1-1 against two of the Pac-10's northern most teams (Washington and Oregon State) over the past few seasons. Beating the Ducks would be a big notch in the belt of coach Chris Petersen.

Heisman Showcase of the Week

Saturday, Sept. 20 - Georgia at Arizona State

Arguably the marquee game of the week - you can easily make a case for LSU-Auburn deserving that title - has the Bulldogs traveling across the country to face what could be a Top 10 team in the Sun Devils. Knowshon Moreno and Matthew Stafford will be on center stage for this primetime game. The two of them will go up against a defense that put up respectable numbers last year, but certainly played its worst games against its toughest competition giving up 44 and 52 points to USC and Texas, respectively.
