BSU's new skybox ready for football home opener
Boise State is almost finished with the kind of upgrade a lot of schools dream of. The stadium's $37,000,000 skybox is almost ready for the 2008 season.
Boise State project manager Kurt Aspey said it's been a long time coming.
“Been thinking about it five, six years,”
Aspey said, “selling it since 2005, building it for 18 months now.”
The emerging skybox offers spectacular views of the Boise skyline, but most eyes will glued to the blue turf. Aspey said the project has't been easy. Crews have had to work around the Broncos' home games in 2007, and compete with the worst winter the area's seen in years. But Apsey said it should be ready in time for the 2008 season.
“It seems like it's going 100 miles per hour,”
he said. “Now it's time to open up and go play some football.”
When the team's not in town, the skybox will open for private bookings. With the ballrooms, suites, kitchens and amenities, it's got all the right stuff. The suites are almost sold out for the upcoming campaign. Aspey said it's that kind of patronage and pride from Bronco Nation that made the project possible.
“Hats off to those people, they're really the important ones,”
Apsey said.
