Clady consulted Petersen about declaring for the NFL draft
Boise State’s offensive tackle Ryan Clady picked up his second first-team honor on a national scale when Sporting News named him to its All-America Team on Friday.
Bronco football coach Chris Petersen says Clady’s talked to him about his NFL options after BSU wraps up its season in the Hawaii Bowl on December 23rd.
“I pointed out some pros and cons, because there’s certainly two sides of the fence,” explained Petersen, who says he hopes Clady sticks around for another year.
If Clady chooses to forgo his senior season at Boise State, Petersen believes Clady could have an impressive pro career ahead of him.
“I think he’s going to be good, I do. He’s got it all. He fits the mold and that’s the first thing (teams) are looking for. He’s athletic, I think he’s very football smart,” he said.
Clady was unavailable for comment. Offensive linemen have not granted interviews since the beginning of the season.
The 6’6”, 300-pounder was again the cornerstone in an offensive line that ranked in the top ten in the country in three out of five offensive categories. According to a Bronco football media release, Boise State ended the regular season fifth in scoring offense (42.75 ppg average), sixth in passing efficiency (155.87 rating), and ninth in total offense (475.67 ypg).
Clady is one of ten juniors selected by Sporting News, and the only player from the WAC.
Before the Broncos’ first game this season, Playboy put Clady on its All-America team.
He’s the second Bronco named on a national All-America list in more than a decade. The first player from BSU was Ian Johnson, who made Sports Illustrated’s list last season.
