Four Detroit Lions, including quarterback Matthew Stafford, and two Chicago Bears were fined Friday by the NFL for incidents in their game last Sunday.
Stafford instigated a scuffle when he grabbed the helmet of Bears defensive back D.J. Moore and threw him to the ground. Stafford was fined $7,500, and Moore was hit for $15,000 for striking back at Stafford and being ejected.
Also docked $15,000 was Lions rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley for driving Bears quarterback Jay Cutler into the ground.
Detroit defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch was fined $7,500 for unnecessary roughness, and teammate Rob Sims also was hit for $7,500 for a late tackle.
Chicago receiver Earl Bennett was fined $10,000 for wearing orange shoes, his second uniform violation.
Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker Ray Lewis isn't expected to play in Sunday's game against Cincinnati because of a toe injury that has prevented him from practicing all week.
Lewis has started 57 consecutive games, a streak dating to December 2007. He leads the Ravens with 68 tackles.
Citing Lewis' toughness, Ravens Coach John Harbaugh refused to rule out the two-time NFL defensive player of the tear against the Bengals.
"Ray is Ray, you can't count Ray out," Harbaugh said Friday. "There could be reports out there and you guys could turn over some rocks and figure out and ask, and think you have something, and you might have something. But you might not. We're talking about Ray.
"We'll find out on Sunday, really. Ray has had shoulders dislocated and he's done 35 push-ups on the sidelines to prove that he can go. He's had hamstrings that have torn off the bone because he went ahead when he should have been gone."
Etc.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick missed a third consecutive day of practice Friday because of broken ribs, but Coach Andy Reid did not rule him out of Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Vick broke two ribs during the Eagles' 21-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday in Philadelphia and has not practiced since. He's officially questionable. Vick would not have played if the game had been Friday, Reid said. "He's feeling a little bit better," Reid said. "I'm not going to tell you he's feeling great, but he's feeling a little bit better."
Oakland defensive tackle Richard Seymour missed his second straight practice, leaving him questionable for Sunday's game in Minnesota. Seymour has been hampered by a knee injury and has not practiced since Oakland's 24-17 win in San Diego on Nov. 9. Coach Hue Jackson sounded optimistic earlier this week when asked whether Seymour would play against the Vikings but backed off that stance slightly Friday. "Obviously [he's] not where we want him yet," Jackson said. "I feel good about it, but we've still got to see."
First-round draft pick Gabe Carimi is the second Chicago Bears offensive lineman placed on injured reserve in less than a week. Carimi, the team's starting right tackle, has been out since the second game of the season because of a dislocated right knee. Carimi returned briefly to practice but suffered a setback and underwent an arthroscopic procedure Nov. 11. The Bears put left guard Chris Williams on IR earlier this week because of a dislocated left wrist and announced Edwin Williams would start Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
